    Steven J. Corodemus Authors Op-Ed Piece In Asbury Park Press

    March 15, 2012 - “All good things in moderation” was the ancient maxim that New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection may have had in mind when it adopted its newest rule, popularly called the “waiver rule.”

    This rule seeks to empower the DEP to identify a practical and environmentally sound solution when its own “one size fits all” regulations result in gridlock that paralyzes all involved in an application process with conflicting provisions.

    While some may believe that any attempt to make the DEP’s environmental regulations work in harmony is an abandonment of good stewardship, I do not.

    To me, the adoption of this new rule indicates a fundamental change in the department’s attitude that the residents of the state have been waiting for. The DEP is seeking to make things work.
