Jacob Birnbaum brings taxation, financial services and hedge fund experience to the firm

July 12, 2010, Red Bank - Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C. is pleased to announce that Jacob Birnbaum has joined the firm as an associate. His practice is devoted to Taxation, Business Law (including Hedge Funds), and Intellectual Property. Mr. Birnbaum provides tax advice to clients on complex matters – to enable them to plan and structure transactions to achieve favorable tax results. His practice encompasses all aspects federal, state, local, and international taxation.

Mr. Birnbaum is involved in the tax structuring of merger and acquisition transactions, and also provides tax advice to clients on partnership and LLC operating agreements, the taxation of financial products, and transfers of Intellectual Property. In addition, Mr. Birnbaum focuses on tax credits and deductions available to individuals and businesses of all sizes, including "Green Energy" and "R&D" tax incentives.

Prior to joining Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C., Mr. Birnbaum practiced financial services and hedge fund law in New York. He is a current member of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office bar, and is also a former stock options floor-trader on the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Birnbaum received his LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and his A.B. from Dartmouth College. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.
