June 26, 2012 - AT LAST! Less than 24 hours ago the New Jersey General Assembly passed A-1338 the extension of the 2008 Permit Extension Act. The bipartisan bill was passed with 66 votes, 7 No’s and 6 abstentions enjoying support from both sides of the aisle. The Chairwoman of the Assembly Environment Committee and others in the majority party fought their own Majority Leader until the very end urging the defeat of this bill.
What remains to be done before the bill can become law is the passage of the bill by the New Jersey Senate - possibly this Thursday, and on to the Governor’s desk for his approval. Without the enactment of these Assembly and Senate bills, permits extended by the 2008 act would lapse at the end of this calendar year or June 30, 2013 depending on the circumstances. The aforementioned bills would extend the permits further to December 31, 2014 or June 30, 2015...
