Baymen Secure Future in Highlands for 25 Years

    December 23, 2016

The historic and successful private – public partnership between the Borough of Highlands, the State of New Jersey, and the Baymen’s Protective Association will continue for the benefit of future generations of Raritan Bay clammers. On December 21, 2016 the Borough of Highland’s counsel agreed to a new lease with the Baymen’s Protective Association of the James T. White Clam Depuration Plant located in Highlands, New Jersey, assuring the Baymen a home for the next 25 years. Sean E. Regan, Esq. of Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C. has been the long-time attorney for the Baymen’s Protective Association, and negotiated the lease after initially filing a lawsuit in the Superior Court, Chancery Division. Councilman Doug Card, Mayor Frank Nolan and Baymen's President, Gerry Nielsen, were instrumental in resolving disputes that had occurred over the last lease. The Baymen look forward to the future, and clamming continuing its historic relationship with the Highlands. Brian J. Chabarek, Esq. represented the Borough.
