Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla's Environmental Practice Area boasts several of New Jersey's leading authorities on environmental law with experience and in-depth knowledge of the network of local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations. Our attorneys provide environmental counsel to residential and commercial builders and developers, including numerous Fortune 500 public and private companies. We also represent real estate lenders and owners, operators and developers of industrial and manufacturing facilities, and telecommunications companies. We serve as environmental counsel to the New Jersey Builders Association and general counsel to the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey.
We counsel purchasers and sellers of real estate, as well as real estate lenders, regarding the impact of environmental regulations. Our attorneys provide in-depth assistance to our clients throughout the development approval process, including due diligence, coordinating with consultants and technical professionals, securing development approvals from municipalities, federal agencies, and state agencies such as the Department of Environmental Protection, perfecting approvals through condition compliance, and defending clients in objector lawsuits. Our experience includes matters involving government enforcement actions relating to industrial sites, landfills, power plants, and construction sites, and we have extensive experience representing clients in litigation involving controversial projects. We also advise clients concerning potential liability under state and federal laws for the costs of remediating hazardous substances, and we work with our clients and other technical professionals in navigating the remediation process.
Our attorneys are actively involved in important industry associations including: the New Jersey Builders Association; the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey; the New Jersey State Bar Association Environmental and Land Use Sections; the American Bar Association Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law; the National Association of Home Builders Legal Action Committee and Legal Action Network for Development Strategies (LANDS); and the National Brownfield Association.
