Christopher J. Marino
Chris has a multi-disciplinary practice with nearly two decades of experience focusing on an array of complex litigation and transactional matters across multiple business sectors and areas of law. Implementing his breadth of experience, Chris has developed a true multi-disciplinary practice acting as a trusted legal advisor to clients in areas of commercial law and business matters, environmental law, real estate, intellectual property, and unfair business practices. Acting as outside general counsel to his clients, Chris’ practice spans three key practice groups: Complex Business and Commercial Litigation, Environmental Law, and Intellectual Property and Technology.
Complex Business and Commercial Litigation. Chris has vigorously and successfully litigated complex disputes in the state and federal courts of New Jersey, New York and California involving a multitude of issues including financial and business fraud, environmental claims under CERCLA and the New Jersey Spill Act, real estate and development disputes, general commercial disputes, intellectual property enforcement and defense, and unfair business practices. Recognizing the expense and disruption litigation can be to his clients, Chris approaches each litigation with an eye towards favorable early resolution. Unfortunately, litigation often becomes necessary, and in these cases, Chris has a reputation for aggressively and strategically litigating matters in “bet the farm” disputes from inception through final judgment, while doing so efficiently and economically for his clients.
Environmental Law. In addition to Chris’ environmental litigation practice, Chris also represents clients as potentially responsible parties in CERCLA/Superfund matters, advising on all aspects of the allocation and remediation process. Additionally, Chris advises clients on matters relating to NJ DEP remediations specifically in connection with multi-party liability scenarios.
Intellectual Property and Technology. Rounding Chris' portfolio of practice is his experience representing clients from all business lines in connection with trademark, copyright, trade secret protection, and technology related matters. Chris focuses his intellectual property practice on trademark prosecution and enforcement, copyright registration, enforcement, and defense, and trade secret protection. Additionally, Chris regularly represents clients in technology transactions involving software, software as a service, platform as a service, and hardware in both private and governmental transactions, including general commercial and healthcare sectors. Chris also regularly provides counsel to entertainment and media clients in connection with intellectual property and transactional matters focusing on music, television and film.
