Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla is No. 1 M&A Advisor to Insurance Brokers for Second Year in a Row

    January 19, 2022

For the second year in a row, Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla served as legal adviser for the largest number of insurance-broker M&As in the nation, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. GH&C worked on over 30 transactions during the year ended December 31, 2021, up from the 25 reported for 2020. The No. 2 and No. 3 law firms on the list in 2021 handled 16 and 14 transactions, respectively. GH&C was ranked No. 3 on the list for 2019. “This continued success and recognition is a testament to the corporate group’s hard work and extensive experience,” said Paul T. Colella, the firm’s co-managing shareholder, CFO and member of the Corporate and Business Practice Area. He added that “Having an excellent working relationship with and understanding of your client is critical when closing multiple transactions at the same time.” Colella leads a team of attorneys in the representation of one of the fastest-growing insurance brokers in the country. This representation has resulted in significant M&A activity during the past several years.

Mergers and acquisitions represent a core part of the firm’s transactional matters in the Corporate and Business Practice Area, chaired by shareholder John A. Aiello. The M&A team represents sellers, purchasers, investors, shareholder groups, boards of directors, special committees of boards and financial advisers. Mr. Aiello commented “We were fortunate to have participated in a robust M&A market in 2021, including representation of several clients who monetized long term investments in their companies. Our work in insurance broker M&A activity is certainly a notable aspect of this M&A activity. We are optimistic about these trends continuing in 2022.”

GH&C’s corporate attorneys structure, negotiate and finalize a wide range of business and other commercial transactions. The team collaborates with other attorneys at the firm in such areas as intellectual property, banking, real estate, environmental, securities, and labor and employment law. It also works with accountants, financial institutions, investment bankers and others.
